Due to its location on central flyways and habitat diversity, Lake McConaughy is recognized as one of the best places in the U.S. to birdwatch.   Watch for some of the 363 identified species during the Wednesday morning bird hikes with park naturalist Alison Bleich. Dates:  Wednesdays – October 12, 19 and 26 All ages welcome. Meet at Lake McConaughy Visitors Center by 7:45 a.m.  Email alison.bleich@nebraska.gov or call 308-284-8800 for more info. Bring comfortable shoes and prepare for about a 2 mile hike. Binoculars, guides and checklists will be provided.  Must have a Nebraska State Park pass.
