One sculpture on Ogallala's SWAN walk is “Saturday’s Distractions II” by artists Lee Luening & Sherri Treeby, placed in front of Ogallala's hometown brewery, Second Chapter Brewing. The figurative bronze features a young boy lost in the wonder of his book. The dog patiently waiting for a drip from the ice cream cone, adding an extra level of life and humor. Sculptors Lee Leuning and Sherri Treeby met in college and started their own sculpture studio Bad River Artworks in 1989. They work collaboratively on art commissions across the United States.
The boy and his book seem right at home, considering the brewery building originally housed the Goodall City Library, where young and old gathered and checked out books for decades.
The Western Trails Sculpture Walk would not be possible without the dedication of Keith County Area Development (KCAD), the Ogallala SWAN (Sculpture Walk Across Nebraska) Committee, Ogallala Regional Arts Council (ORAC), and many community partners.
