The new Lake Mac Casino Resort & Racetrack in Ogallala is opening Tuesday, Aug. 19, pending Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission (NRGC) approval.
The facility is located at 777 Pony Express Lane, Ogallala, southwest of Walmart.
Schedule of Events:
Noon – Gates open to the public. All are invited to the free lunch, which will by served by Ole's of Paxton.
2:00 PM – Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
3:00 PM – First Race
4:00 PM – Casino Opens
The Ogallala development is a partnership between Hastings Exposition and Racing and by Elite Casino Resorts, which owns and operates the Grand Island Casino Resort in Grand Island, NE.
CASINO INFO: The temporary casino will open with 350 slot machines, seven table games, in person sports wagering, simulcast area and Draft Day Sports Lounge. When completed, the future resort will include expanding gaming, a hotel with indoor/outdoor pool, Ruthie's Steak & Seafood, casual dining and RV parking.
RACETRACK INFO: The Lake Mac Racetrack features a 5/8-mile track and will be part of Nebraska's only quarter horse racing circuit.
The Hastings Exposition and Racing team is headed by Brian Becker, a longtime figure in the Nebraska racing industry. Becker says, “We’ve been in the racing business for over 30 years, and the Elite family has been in the casino industry for over 30 years,” Becker said. “It was a perfect partnership to help grow the Quarter Horse racing industry."
