Nebraska Wildflower Week kicks off June 1, and the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum is hosting events at Lake Ogallala and Tri Trails Park in Ogallala. A plant talk and guided wildflower hike will be held Thursday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at Cedar Point Biological Station. A horticulture expert will talk about native wildflower species in our area. A 45 minute hike will follow. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk over uneven terrain. Snacks and water provided. To reach Cedar Point, take the Central District Drive (road to former Hilltop Inn), proceed up and around, take a right before the hydroplant, and Cedar Point is located to the north of the plant.

The public is also invited to attend an event on June 6 at Tri Trails Park south of Ogallala from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The event will include a tree planting and recognition of Tri Trails Park becoming a NSA Landscape Steward Affiliate site. The park is located on Road West 80 and Lawrence Road just west of Moul's Modern Building. Contact Michelle DeRusha of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum at 402-472-8478 for more information.
