Big news from Ogallala – we’ve been named “Best Small Lake Town in the U.S.” by Travel + Leisure!  Ogallala was also featured on a segment of the TODAY show, titled “4 Small Towns to Visit Before the Summer Ends.” Travel + Leisure Editor-in-chief Jacqui Gifford said, “I think people wouldn’t necessarily know how beautiful the scenery really is” at Lake McConaughy and Lake Ogallala.

The article listed 5 "Can't Miss" local attractions, including:

  1. Admiral Cove Resort at Lemoyne
The family-friendly restaurant features a Nebraska-inspired menu, and live music throughout the summer.
  2. Front Street in Ogallala
A local institution since the 1960s, Front Street recreates a Old West town complete with old-fashioned storefronts. The cowboys and singing girls kick up their heels each summer at the Crystal Palace Revue, Nebraska's longest-running summer stock theatre.
  3. The Beaches of Lake McConaughy
A perfect place to lounge and catch a summer breeze. There are also plenty of opportunities to hit the water in a boat, kayak or jetski.
  4. Eccentric Lamb Fiber Arts
If you love to knit, crochet or weave, you won't want to miss this unique store. Fiber artists gather here to take classes, find new supplies, and socialize.
  5. Second Chapter Brewing
Housed in the town's repurposed library, the family-owned brewery serves up an ever-changing menu of locally brewed lager, ale, seltzer, IPA and more.

As one of our colorful murals says, Ogallala is “Not Your Ordinary Town!” Nebraska’s Cowboy Capital is “brimming with history, culture, and Western flair.”
The welcome mat is out year round, so plan your trip to the "Best Little Lake Town" in the country soon.
