Fishing

The cool, clear depths of Lake McConaughy are home to a variety of game fish, including walleye, wiper, smallmouth bass, pike, and catfish. The state record walleye and wiper were caught at Lake Mac. Lake Ogallala boasts some of the best trout fishing in the Great Plains region. Its colder temperature and well-aerated water that passes through the dam make ideal conditions for trout.

Fishing licenses are available online from the Nebraska Game and Parks commission at www.outdoornebraska.gov.

If your boat is currently registered in another state, you will need to purchase an invasive species decal for your boat.  These are $15 a year, and also available for sale www.outdoornebraska.gov.
